Territorial and Land Steward Acknowledgement

Black Eco Bloom is a sustainable development nonprofit organization with a national scope in so-called Canada. Black Eco Bloom’s team members are situated across Turtle Island in various traditional territories of Indigenous nations. We are headquartered on the traditional land of many First Nation and Métis peoples (colonially known as Burlington, ON) including the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and Métis from Lake Ontario to the Niagara Escarpment. This territory is covered by the Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt covenant.

The “dish,” represents the land that is to be shared peacefully, while the “spoon” represents those who live and work on the land and a relationship of mutuality and sharing with other people who use the land. Black Eco Bloom not only acknowledges the land and the historical and present stewards of these lands in so-called Canada, but also thank those elders, stewards and land defenders for their knowledge, wisdom and activism to protect these lands and their communities from degradation and harm.
